Panchvalkal Kwath

Panchvalkal Kwath (पंचवल्कल क्वाथ) is a classical Ayurvedic formulation prepared from the barks (valkal) of five sacred fig trees, referenced in Bhavaprakasha Nighantu. The "Pancha" (five) Ficus species have been used in Ayurveda for thousands of years for their astringent, wound-healing, anti-diabetic and hormonal-balancing properties.

This formulation is particularly known for its action on the reproductive system — it has been used traditionally in conditions of infertility and gynaecological disorders. The combination of five Ficus barks creates a powerful astringent and tissue-healing action that is effective for both internal ulcers and external skin conditions.

Panchvalkal Kwath is also one of the classical Ayurvedic formulations used in the management of diabetes, working to regulate blood sugar through its bitter and astringent properties.
